Harbor Mates Newsletters

Soaring Eagles | Main Newsletter | Harbor Mates

Dear Harbor Mates Friends,

Talk about the proverbial busman's holiday! It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that Larry and I recently took off for parts far and wide. Our journey across the Pacific found us in Southeast Asia.
It's wonderful to have the opportunity to explore the customs, food, religion, and economies of foreign countries. So much has been written and shown on TV of late regarding the
severe economic distress of these Asian nations. It was of particular interest to gain first hand knowledge. Indonesia appeared to be having a more difficult time keeping ahead of setbacks in the rupiah (their currency). It was obvious in certain circumstances they were in need but for the most part the people appear resilient and will persevere. It's at times like these we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be U.S. citizens. Our Tea Party for Dolls was a huge success! If you weren't able to attend, I hope you saw the half-page story and photos provided by our Lake County News-Chronicle. The dolls were magnificent and the stories behind them were fascinating. Considering that some dolls were nearly 100 years old, they were in surprisingly good condition. As always, feel free to call me with your suggestions for future programs or trips, 834-2136 or 1-800-992-2136.
